Thank you for writing a new story for Community

Dear brothers, sisters and friends of Community,

Grace and peace to you through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  In this season, where we celebrate God’s generosity, the Finance Team and Community Leadership want to take time to thank you for living out God’s generosity by being generous with your resources.  It’s been a roller coaster ride of a year with budget concerns and leadership transitions, but through it all, God has been faithful, and you have been faithful in your commitment to God and one another.

We have really good news to share with you.  The 17 in 17 campaign, a revised belt-tightening budget, and your faithful giving all combined to see our income exceed expenses by $35,000 through the first eleven months of 2017!  In addition, by borrowing $50,000 from our reserves, we were able to pay-off the mortgage on our sanctuary.  It feels a whole lot better owing ourselves than the bank!  (By the way, we have committed to repaying our reserves over the next two years.)

And with this news, comes with both a great sense of gratitude for your generosity and a commitment from your leadership to step out in faith, trusting God to provide in greater and greater ways.  Because of your faithfulness, we have committed to return to our roots, to step out in faith to use our Christmas Eve offerings to bless our community.

On Christmas Eve-Eve 100% of our offerings will go to support our Backpack Meal missions – making sure that children on free or reduced lunches in our local elementary schools have easy-to-prepare foods to eat over the weekends when they have no access to their schools’ breakfasts and lunches.

On Christmas Eve (Sunday) morning, our focus will be on blessing our Baby Pantry.  All children will be invited to bring in baby items and place them at the manger as an act of worship and adults will be encouraged to bless the Baby Pantry with monetary gifts – designated envelopes will be provided.

At our Christmas Eve services at 7:00 and 9:00, our appeal will be to bless Manna House.  Community Church has been supporting this homeless mission in Baltimore since 2014.  Manna House’s mission is expanding and they are in the midst of a much needed Capital Campaign to expand kitchen/dining area In 2016, 68,339 hot meals were served in comparison of the 61,743 meals served in 2015.

God has blessed us as individuals, and collectively in Community, to bless others.  Our anticipation of what God is planning to do in and through us in 2018 is through the roof!

Finally, just a friendly reminder that for tax purposes, all gifts to the church must be postmarked or received in the church office by January 1st.  If you are behind in your commitment, we gently encourage you to finish the year strong.  And if your giving is up to date, please consider a year-end gift that will launch us into 2018 with resources to build God’s Kingdom right here in Crofton.

Again, thank you for your love expressed though the generous gift of your time, talent and resources.  We expect God to do amazing things with and through our faith community in 2018.  Thank you for being part of God’s mission here.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
